Program Overview

Four-year Bachelor's (Honours) degrees are available in Biological Science, Chemistry, Computing Science, Forensic Science, Industrial and Applied Mathematics, Physics and Physical Science. Five-year programs are available Biological Science and Management, Physical Science and Management and Concurrent Science/Education. Other specializations available include Environmental Toxicology, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Biological Chemistry, Digital Media, Digital Forensics, Energy and the Environment, Forensic Physics and Medical Physics.

The Faculty of Health Sciences offers a comprehensive four-year Bachelor of Health Science (Honours) degree with specializations in Health Information Management, Kinesiology and Medical Laboratory Science. In collaboration with Durham College, UOIT offers a four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing program and bridging/pathway opportunities for candidates who have already earned a Practical Nursing diploma from an approved program. UOIT also offers a Bachelor of Allied Health Sciences program for health professionals interested in expanding their previous education.


UOIT is located in Oshawa, less than an hour's drive east of Toronto, Ontario and is easily accessible by public transportation
UOIT was the first laptop-based university in the province of Ontario. All undergraduate students receive a high-end laptop computer, loaded with program- and industry-specific software. All Faculty of Science courses are taught using tablet computers. Forensic Science students use tablet computers in years 3 and 4 of their program
Over 10 per cent of all UOIT Faculty of Science graduates have entered medical school
Many Faculty of Science graduates have gone on to graduate studies, both in Canada and elsewhere, and many have won prestigious scholarships to support these studies
A concurrent science/education five-year program enables students to complete Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Science (Honors) degrees; a Bachelor of Science and Management degree meets the need for science graduates with business leadership skills

Buildings & Facilities

UOIT offers an award-winning student-centred campus with high-tech facilities and equipment. The Science building offers more than 200,000 square feet of labs, lecture halls, classrooms and other learning spaces. The Faculty of Science's innovative Crime Scene House is the only university facility of its kind, while the Interprofessional Center of Excellence in Simulation offers a lab where Health Sciences students have access to 'Sim' people that replicate various health conditions.

The Campus Library offers a warm and inviting atmosphere for individual and collaborative learning, including a bright, spacious second-floor study hall with a two-storey ceiling. A glass rotunda on the southwest corner of the four-storey building features a first-floor cafe and a two-storey fireplace reading room.

Wireless technology is available all over campus, including residences, seminar rooms, the 200-seat Computer Learning Commons and cafeterias. The university offers students convenient, 24-hour off-site access to educational resources including several classrooms and lounge areas equipped with network and power connections.

Athletic facilities include five gymnasiums; a fitness centre; squash courts; a baseball diamond; the Campus Tennis Centre with six Har-Tru clay courts; and the Campus Ice Centre with two NHL-sized ice pads.
