Program Overview

Virtual Tour MacEwan University's (MacEwan) Bachelor of Music in Jazz and Contemporary Popular Music is one of the few post-secondary music programs in North America to provide an academic degree that combines studies in jazz with other contemporary genres. This 4-year Degree Program is based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Candidates can pursue one of the following majors: performance (voice, piano/keyboard, bass, percussion, guitar or winds), composition, and general. The general route includes applied instruments, ensemble courses and ensemble participation. Students following the general route also have the opportunity to pursue one of two unique minors: music technology and production.

Located at the Centre for the Arts Campus of MacEwan University, the Music Degree program provides a unique facility catering to the specific needs of teaching and producing a variety of musical styles. Keyboard and percussion labs, as well as state-of-the-art recording studios, featuring a SSL recording console and ProTools HD systems, four audio suites, and a dual-projection technology lab for student laptops, enable students to have a hands-on learning experience.
