Private career education is provincially approved and regulated. In Alberta, private career colleges are registered and regulated under the Private Vocational Schools Act. You should look for a statement by the college that it is approved by the Alberta provincial government as a base-line measure of quality.
In addition, the Alberta government also recognizes certain accrediting agencies that have established standards for institutions and or programs. Accreditation, while voluntary, is verified by an independent accrediting body, and provides further evidence that a college is committed to its students and to offering them a high-quality education.
